Brief History:
These two bands were really the same, the only difference
being with the presence or absence of John Allen (see Hudson
Fairfax). We were working primarily at J.B.'s Lounge
and The Candy Bar, a strip joint in downtown West Palm Beach,
and the owners of The Candy Bar didn't want to pay for John. So, he would
work with us when we weren't at The Candy Bar. I was, for a while,
working with Hudson Fairfax at the same
time. I was very busy. The Candy Bar was certainly a learning
experience for me. I was not yet 21, but nobody seemed to care.
We played six sets a night, six nights a week, with comedy sets thrown
in on the weekends. The comedy sets would frequently be two or more
hours long, and we were forbidden to move; that is, Roger and I couldn't
stand up, and Kenny and Russ couldn't sit down. The strippers were
all (with one major exception), very ugly. I was saving my money
to buy a new Leslie for my Hammond C-3, but I ran into some legal trouble
and had to spend it all on lawyers.
I don't know what ever happened to Kenny, Russ,
or John.
